Next Year:
–I’ll be back at CNY Fiber Arts Festival in Bouckville with yarn, batts, embroidery thread, and other fibery things.
Today was a fabulous day at the CNY Fiber Arts Festival at Butternut Hill Camp Ground in Bouckville, NY. Sunday Hours will be 10-5 if you weren’t able to make it today.
I was lucky to spend the day hanging out with my kind of crazy! I met some facebook friends in person, talked with folks I haven’t seen in a while, visited with people I know well, met new fiber friends, sold some yarn and batts, and heard all sorts of great ideas for dyeing more yarn and fiber!
Can’t beat the feeling of being surrounded by people who also love fiber arts!
Best of all, I met folks who also have chickens overstaying their welcome in their studios. Nice to know I’m not the only one…
Looking forward to tomorrow
SHOP UPDATE: As soon as I get a chance to do an inventory after the show, I’ll redirect the blog to my new shop webpage.
WEB PAGE UPDATE: Starting in July, I will have how-to, blogs, and general info on a wordpress site and a more traditional shop page to make life easier for people who just want to see and shop for yarn. I’ll post more details as I put things together. In the meantime, Facebook and Instagram are the easiest way to see what’s up in the studio.
As always:
THANK YOU! Your support has made it possible for me to continue to grow both as a business and a fiber artist. I appreciate it!
The dyer’s room is getting closer. We’re waiting on a plumbing part to install the sink, but it’s worth the wait. It’s an awesome sink! Two deep 17″ x 17″ bowls and drain boards on either side. The faucet is a commercial sprayer with lots of clearance. The new circuit breakers are in, and we’ll be able to have 4 steamers running plus the crock pots.
The overhead lighting is natural spectrum LED panels that fill the room with amazing light.
The next steps:
Install the ceiling boards (on order)
Lay the foam flooring tiles
Bring in the storage racks for undyed yarn & fiber
Bring in the pots, pans, and tools rack
Build spice rack style storage for dye powders
Install oversink rack for scouring liquids, synthropol, dishsoap, pH meter station including buffer solutions.
Install hardware for the pull out drying rack and the hanging fiber dryers.
I’m excited at the progress in the dyeing room! The dry space for knitting, carding, combing, spinning, and group work is pretty much ready to go except for the ceiling installation. Once we see how the ceiling looks in the dyeing room, we’ll make the final call on how to finish the rest of the ceiling.
More updates as things progress! I”m hoping to have it open by the time the weather warms up a bit.
